Who is Jennifer Love?

HI, I'M JENNIFER LOVE, FOUNDER OF THE LEAN

I'm a psychologist and research scientist, yoga and fitness expert, intentional creativity coach, and artist. For the last decade I've worked with women on embodiment, creativity, business, and self-expression.

When I would survey the women in my world to learn more about them, one theme kept coming up — women feeling uncomfortable in their bodies, wanting to lose weight, having lost it and gained it back many times over, and often ending up at higher weights than where they started.

I knew that feeling intimately. I'd lived that same cycle throughout my own life. And as a psychologist, researcher, and fitness expert, I discovered what was actually driving it. What I found changes everything and building The Lean became my mission.

The Lean is built on the science of Psychosocial Structure — the invisible architecture of your environment, your neurology, your stress, and your daily patterns. When that structure changes, weight loss stops being a fight and starts being a natural outcome of how you live. That is what I teach. And it works.

My goal is to help one million+ women get lean for life.

HEY, I'M JENNIFER LOVE, FOUNDER OF THE LEAN

Who I am outside of work.

I'm originally from New York, trained at Syracuse University's SI Newhouse School of Communications — the top communications program in the country — and went on to get my advanced degree in cognitive psychology with a quantitative specialization. Along the way I was part of the team that helped bring online banking into existence. My brain has always liked solving problems that haven't yet been solved.

I'm also a former professional dancer. I've danced samba at SF Carnival, opened shows for MC Hammer, and performed in front of crowds at AT&T Stadium. These days I teach Vinyasa yoga with strength training and step class — which is a full throwback to Jane Fonda, and everyone in class knows it and loves it.

I ski double diamonds. Fast. It's one of my favorite things in the world, especially when my sons are there with me. My older son is a junior at UC Davis studying biosystems engineering. My younger one just got into UC Santa Cruz to study applied mathematics and I'm a proud mama of them both. They're basically men now and somehow also still my boys.

I have a 17-year-old Tibetan Terrier pup named Beauy. I dreamed him into existence — literally. During a meditation before he was born, he appeared to me so clearly that I drew a picture of him. When he was born he looked exactly like that drawing. He wasn't supposed to be our dog. And then he was. That's the kind of psychic stuff that happens to me.

I paint. I play guitar. I write songs and dream of one day putting a band together to record them. I make healthy food that people genuinely cannot believe is healthy — flourless cookies, high protein mousse from cacao and cottage cheese, ice cream from almond milk and protein powder that people swear tastes like gelato. A cookbook is coming.

I'm also working on an Oracle deck, drawing every card myself and writing the oracle.

And for this current mission, The Lean, I'm writing a book called The Lean Codes and working on The Lean companion app for the program.

I've been called the silver lining girl my whole life because I can find the good and beauty when we need it most... and I'll work on something until it’s right.

My oldest friend I've known since I was two years old. My best friends are people I have known my entire life, but also still pick some up along the way. That kind of loyalty and longevity matters to me deeply — in friendships, in work, and in the women I get to be in connection and community with.

People stop me on the street sometimes to tell me I have a special sparkle. I think what they are picking up on is that I genuinely love being alive and I genuinely love people. That is what you will feel when you work with me.

All love,

Jennifer Love
